Aperture is a not-for-profit fine art photography foundation founded in 1952 by a group of legendary photographers including Minor White, Ansel Adams, and Dorothea Lang. As a Work Scholar in the Production Department, I was responsible for processing and managing images for web, print, and other uses. I worked in a small team setting and was taught how to properly color correct images, how to use adobe software to prep/organize images, and how to manage multiply large-scale projects while communicating with other departments to meet the project to print dates. This internship gave me skills in time management, communication, and an insight into the production process. I meet and worked with well-respected contemporary photographers including Justine Kurland and An-My Le and helped on book projects including work by Sally Mann.
Beacon Quarterly is an independent arts magazine based in Portland Oregon. As lead graphic designer for the tenth issue, four eyes. I art directed the issue by producing the layout of each spread of the 45-page magazine as well as creating the text elements. I worked closely with the Editor and the Beacon Team to get the magazine to print on deadline. This position required constant communication and understanding of graphic design, illustration, and magazine layout. I used Abode Indesign and Illustrator for this project.
